Before Whitney Houston emerged as “the love of my life,” Bobby Brown took every little step to woo another superstar pop diva: Janet Jackson.
“Janet was the crush of my life,” says the 53-year-old singer in the new documentary Biography: Bobby Brown, which premieres Monday and Tuesday nights on A&E.
In fact, before the “My Prerogative” crooner even met his wife-to-be Houston backstage at the 1989 Soul Train Music Awards, Brown was all for Janet.
“What about Janet? All. Her little smile, her body, her dance moves, her little laugh,” he says in the document.
After all these years, Brown still sounds a little smitten with the songbird “When I Think of You” and fondly remembers their affair.
“We loved each other’s company,” he says. But, he adds, “We haven’t been in a relationship that long.”
Ultimately, however, Brown believes things didn’t work out between the singing sweethearts because he was more “Hood” than Hollywood.
“The reason me and Janet broke up was because she couldn’t be with a guy like me,” he says. “I come from the projects. i am hood And her father [Joe Jackson] wouldn’t allow her to be with someone like me.”
Brown – who admits he was “sex addicted” in the two-day documentary – also reveals he’s dated the Queen of Pop herself, Madonna.
“Did I sleep with Madonna? We didn’t sleep,” he says mischievously. “It just happened. I don’t even know how it happened . . . She probably knows how it happened. But we didn’t sleep.”
