Rizzo, Saget’s widow, said in an interview with “Good Morning America” that aired Thursday.
“He has the biggest heart of anyone I’ve ever known,” she added. “He puts everyone first. He does everything for everyone. If you’re in trouble, he’s the first to take care of it and help you… He’s just the best husband ever. that I had a dream about.”
“Full House” actor, 65 years old, was found dead in bed in a luxury hotel room in Florida. He just kicked off his “I Don’t Do Negative” comedy tour and celebrated online.
“I’m back to comedy like I was when I was 26. I guess I’m finding my new voice and loving every moment of it,” he posted on Instagram before his death.
That night, he also reached out to Rizzo, texting her: “I love you so much, and I can’t wait to see you tomorrow.”
“What was the conversation, what was the phone call just now?” asked ABC News Reporter TJ Holmes during their interview at Rizzo’s home in Los Angeles.
“[He] told me what a great show he had and how great it was… He was happy and loved what he did. It makes him very happy, brings laughter to everyone,” she replied.
She described feeling sad, shocked and unbelievable when she heard the news of the death of her seemingly healthy husband. Saget has been found no sign of injury or foul play, as reported by the sheriff’s office. It can take months for the autopsy report to determine the cause of death.
Rizzo calls their love story a whirlwind that begins when the two meet in a modern way: He sends her a direct message on social media. After dating for three years, the couple married in 2018, with Saget turning their ceremony into a comedic act.
“Oh my. Bob stood up for a minute of our vows,” she said with a laugh. “And he just made me laugh so hard.”
Rizzo says her late husband’s three passions are girls, comedy and his cause. Saget is the champion for Scleroderma Research Foundation, prompted by the memory of his late sister, who died of an autoimmune disorder in 1994.
Close friend John Mayer and “Full House” co-stars Candace Cameron Bure and Dave Coulier made sweatshirts to raise money for charity. One wrote, “Love like Jesus. Hug like Bob Saget,” and Rizzo called it “very special.”
“If you know Bob, you know he’s given the warmest hugs… It’s a very deep and meaningful hug. And then he’ll rest his head on your shoulder,” Rizzo said.
Rizzo said she believes Saget has achieved her goal in life: Spreading love and laughter.
“I’m so proud of him because he really brings people together. He’s amazing, and I’m honored to be his wife and to be able to be a part of it and bring any What happiness I can because he deserves it so much,” she said.
