Bob Dylan has offered Coronation Street a cameo after admitting he’s a fan of the soap

Bob Dylan was offered a cameo Coronation Street after the musician revealed he’s a fan of the show.

In a recent interview, Minnesota-born Dylan said he enjoys watching the long-running soap because it makes him “feel at home.”

Producer Iain MacLeod has since said Dylan could sing karaoke at Rovers Return Pub with characters Ken Barlow and Rita Sullivan.

said Macleod The Daily Telegraph: “Hearing that Bob Dylan is a Coronation Street Spectator blows my mind.

“I would absolutely love the idea of him showing up on Rovers Return one night.”

Dylan, the producer explained, could perform at an open mic night at the pub.

“A mystery singer could roll in out of the Manchester rain and make a turn,” he suggested.

Dylan’s first album was released in 1962, two years before the Mancunian soap opera was televised.

“Both him and Coronation Street made their mark in the 1960s, both championed the voices and causes of the working class, both tell stories with a particular sensitivity and sense of humor,” said MacLeod.

Dylan listed Father Brown and “some early Twilight Zones‘ like his other favorite TV shows.

“I’m not a fan of packaged programs or news shows,” he explained. “I never look at anything smelly or nasty. Nothing gross, nothing dog shit.”

Dylan explained that while he’s “hand signed every art print over the years,” due to a combination of the pandemic and a bad case of vertigo, he’s unable to autograph copies of his book.

“So during the pandemic it was impossible to sign anything and the scam didn’t help. With contractual deadlines looming, the idea of using an auto-pen was suggested to me, along with the reassurance that something like this is being done “all the time” in the arts and literature worlds,” he said.

However, Dylan called the decision to use the autopen a “misjudgment” and told fans he will “correct it immediately.”
