Blue Springs County, police investigating school threat

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – The Blue Springs Police Department is working with the city’s school district to investigate a residual threat inside one of its schools.

In a letter to parents and guardians Wednesday, the principal of Blue Springs South High School said someone reported threatening graffiti left in one of the school’s bathrooms. The district says it takes all credible threats seriously. It says the school is safe, but to make sure everyone feels as safe as possible, the district is slated to have more staff at the school within a few days.

“School safety is paramount, and we all need to keep our schools safe. I would like to thank those involved in reporting the incident. If you or your students become aware of any information that could be perceived as a threat to our school, please notify school staff immediately,” said principal Ryan Gettings.

Gettings said he will keep parents informed and let them know if there is any new information about the threat.
