Black Adam star Pierce Brosnan shares how Robin Williams instantly salvaged a dreaded Mrs. Doubtfire scene

Pierce Brosnan has revealed how Robin Williams saved one of his most feared Mrs Doubtfire scenes.

The actors starred together in the 1994 comedy directed by Chris Columbus, with former Bond star Brosnan reflecting on the experience in a new interview.

Discussed his past credits in a recent interview GQBrosnan, who will be featured next Black Adamspoke specifically about a scene in the film where he gets a lime tapped on the back of the head by William’s character Daniel Hillard while carrying a tray of drinks.

Hillard does so after Brosnan’s character Stu, his ex-wife’s (Sally Field) new boyfriend, quietly calls him “a failure.”

Hillard explains what happened to Stu: “Oh sir, I saw it! Some angry member of the kitchen staff – didn’t you tip him? Oh, the terrorist, they ran there; it was a passing fruit.”

Watching the clip as part of the interview, Brosnan recalled, “I’ll get the beer, go back and I’m like, ‘This is going to take forever — forever — to hit me on the head.’ The first was missing. And the second is history.”

He also revealed that the “Run-by Fruiting” line was ad libbed, explaining, “It wasn’t in the script.”

Mrs Doubtfire contained nearly two scenes that were eventually removed as deemed too heartbreaking for families watching the film together.

One scene would have featured Hillard’s daughter Lydia (Lisa Jakub) participating in a spelling bee before being distracted by her bickering parents arguing in the crowd, while a second depicted a brutal argument between the parents through the eyes of their children.
