Birthday boy Soucek strikes to boost Hammers’ top four hopes, blows away visitors’ European dreams

WEST HAM is back in fifth place in the table after beating top four contenders team Wolves 1-0 at the London Stadium.
Tomas Soucek scored the only goal of the game when the midfielder broke the deadlock in the 59th minute on his 27th birthday.
The Czech Republic international went home from close range after being saved by Michail Antonio.
Wolves tried to find the equalizer but failed to return to the level to help West Ham get their first win in three games.
They are now far ahead of Arsenal when ranked above the Gunners in goal difference, although their London rivals still have 3 matches in hand.
As for Bruno Lage’s men, they now risk missing out on Europe together.
The Midlands outfit remain in eighth place after losing their last two matches – both coming in the capital.
