Bill Nighy thinks the quote “Love Actually” will be at the top of his obituary

Bill Nighy predicted that a famous quote from the 2003 rom-comlove actuallywill one day be at the top of his obituary.

In the hit film, directed by Richard Curtis, Nighy played aging rocker Billy Mack, who has a penchant for hard parties, promiscuity and drugs.

Speaking of on ITV This morning On Friday (November 11), Nighy reflected on the scene where Billy said to a TV camera, “Hiya, kids. Here’s an important message from your Uncle Bill. Don’t buy drugs. Become a pop star and they give them to you for free!”

“If I get an obituary, it’ll say that,” Nighy, 72, told hosts Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond. “Kids in my neighborhood used to run after me and shout that line.”

He also told the presenters he will “never get tired of people talking about it love actually‘, adding: ‘It was a big and important thing for me and changed the way I go to work. I never get bored of talking about it.

“People have used it for all sorts of purposes, getting through dark times…there’s no place in the world that people don’t watch it regularly, every Christmas.”

Nighy was on the show to promote his new movie, lifein which he plays a veteran officer faced with a terminal illness.

In a recent interview with The IndependentNighy spoke about how he didn’t feel he needed to be methodical in order to perform well in the film.

“If you’re in the company of someone who is suggesting that an actor needs to feel everything they’re portraying, you’re talking to someone who’s basically an amateur,” he said.

“Often it’s a way of punishing actors. I think drama teachers sometimes do that to control the students. Just stand there and say, ‘You don’t feel it.’

“How do you know I don’t feel it? what should i feel You don’t have to have been grieving to play someone grieving – otherwise, well, how would we go about it? You know, acting is acting.”
