Biden to become honorary cartel member for border policy

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Wednesday that President Biden’s border policy would secure him “honorary membership” in a Mexican drug cartel.

Speaking at an independent news conference in Okaloosa County, DeSantis criticized Biden for allowing the end of a Trump-era border control measure and argued that the country’s southern perimeter was undone.

“He’s violating his own oath of office by allowing large numbers of people to cross the border illegally,” DeSantis said. “These frontier communities are getting killed right now in South Texas with everything that comes in.”

DeSantis said porous borders are accelerating America’s fentanyl crisis and that narcotics are flowing unchecked across the border.

“Biden should be given honorary membership in the Mexican drug cartels,” he said. “Because nobody has done more to help the cartels than Biden with his open borders policy.”

Title 42, enacted in March 2020 amid a worsening pandemic, banned asylum seekers from entering America from the Mexican border.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ruled that the restriction was no longer justified on health grounds and recommended that it be ended.

Democrats and health officials argue that legitimate asylum seekers should be able to enter the country, while Republicans claim repealing the law would speed up illegal border crossings.

The Biden administration has dismissed claims that it was negligent at the border, arguing that it is increasing penalties for those entering the country illegally.

DeSantis vowed to cancel contracts with companies that transport illegal immigrants into Florida and divert them out of the state.

He also addressed the Biden administration’s paused effort to establish a federal disinformation body to identify and suppress information it deemed illegitimate or harmful.

“The way they’re doing it is whatever the regime wants, they’re going to tell the truth and if you disagree, they’re going to say it’s misinformation,” he said.
