Biden is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the death of his first wife, a young daughter

President Biden, accompanied by family members, visited the gravesites of his first wife and infant daughter, who died in a car accident 50 years ago Sunday
The President, First Lady Jill Biden, daughter Ashley, son Hunter Biden and several grandchildren, wearing a wreath, attended Mass at St. Joseph at Brandywine Roman Catholic Church near the family home in Wilmington, Delaware , part.
After the “private family memorial service,” according to the White House, they went to the church cemetery where Neilia Biden and Naomi, who was 13 months old at the time of the accident, are buried.
The 80-year-old president was the Delaware Senator-elect on December 18, 1972, when 30-year-old Neilia took Naomi and her two sons – Beau and Hunter – in the car to buy a Christmas tree.

It was hauled broadside by a tractor-trailer.
Beau, who died of brain cancer in May 2015, suffered a broken leg and Hunter, then 3, had a fractured skull.
Beau’s grave is also in the church cemetery.
Biden was sworn in to the Senate at the hospital where Beau and Hunter were treated.
He married Jill Jacobs in 1977 and they have one daughter, Ashley, 41.
Hunter Biden, 52, who has battled drug and alcohol addiction, is under investigation for his foreign business dealings while his father was a vice president in the Obama administration.
