Better Call Saul: How Long Before Breaking Bad Is The Prequel Set?

With the upcoming season of Better call Saul Announcing its final chapter, fans are wondering how it will play into the companion show breaking Bad.

Better call Saul – this is a prequel too breaking Bad – follows the humble beginnings of attorney Saul Goodman/Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) before he begins representing Walter White (Bryan Cranston), the notorious chemist-turned-meth dealer.

Ahead of the farewell season — premiering on AMC TV April 18 in the US and April 19 on Netflix in the UK — one thing remains unclear, the show’s schedule, leaving many wondering just how many years ago breaking Bad Is the spin-off show actually canceled?

When Breaking Bad In the first season, White was introduced celebrating his 50th birthday in 2008. Time on the show goes by slowly as he doesn’t turn 51 until the end of the fourth season.

However, Better call Saul kicks off its first season in 2002 when Goodman is struggling financially as a public defender. As season five comes to a close, a nine-month time skip takes the storyline to early 2004.

The sixth season will continue in 2004, but that puts the show several years before the events in Breaking Bad, when Goodman White and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) first met.

In light of the recent announcement that Breaking Bad Two main characters, White and Pinkman, are slated to appear in the new season, it’s unclear how the writers will introduce them if the chronology isn’t currently aligned.
