BCA Investigative Officer West Minnesota Shooting


Willmar, MN (KROC-AM News) – A team from the Minnesota Department of Criminal Investigation was dispatched to west-central Minnesota on Thursday to lead the investigation into a shooting that involved an officer .
A report said Willmar police officers responded Thursday afternoon to a 911 call involving an armed man in the apartment complex threatening to kill a probation officer. Response officers located each individual inside the apartment building, and in one confrontation, one officer opened fire and another opened fire.
The report said the suspect suffered a non-serious gunshot wound to his hand. He was taken to a hospital in Willmar, where he was treated and released before being transferred to the Kandiyohi County Jail.
The BCA said part of the incident was captured by officers’ body cameras and that investigators recovered a replica gun at the scene. The agency also said charges were being prepared against the suspect.
His name and the names of the officers involved in the incident have yet to be released.
