FRANKFURT (Reuters) – Germany’s Bayer on Monday halted all spending in Russia and Belarus unrelated to essential health and agricultural products, citing Russia’s “brutal aggression” against Ukraine.
Bayer said in a statement that it was suspending advertising, promotional activities, investment projects and new business development, but added that it would continue to supply essential products.
“Depriving civilians of essential health and agricultural products — such as cancer or cardiovascular treatments, antenatal and child health products, and seeds for growing food — would only multiply the ongoing human toll of war,” the company said.
Bayer’s products include contraceptives, hemophilia treatments, cancer drugs and stroke-prevention pills, and agricultural pesticides.
