Barcelona ‘can’t believe Tottenham pay £26m for Emerson Royal’ as Spurs target new full-back as one of three transfers

BARCELONA is said to have been stunned when Tottenham paid £26m for Emerson Royal last summer.
The Telegraph claim the Nou Camp chiefs couldn’t believe their luck when huge bids came from the Londoners.
Only two months have passed since Barca paid around £7m to land Emerson, 22, from Real Betis.
And they took the opportunity to discount him for almost four times what they paid.
Spurs hopefully Emerson will be the one to solve their right-back problem since the sale of Kyle Walker to City man for £50 million in 2017.
But the Brazilian has failed to impress, and Antonio Conte is now hoping to take Adama Traore from Wolf this month.
The Spaniard will become the fourth right-back to join Spurs since Walker’s departure after Serge Aurier, Matt Doherty and Emerson.
But Conte is ready to meet Wolves’ £20m valuation as he targets two other key signings in January.

It is thought that Tottenham are also looking to buy a new central midfielder.
And Conte also wants another attacking player to support Harry Kane.
But Spurs are also preparing for a number of departures, with Tanguy Ndombele poised to leave after he was booed by fans during their FA Cup comeback against Morecambe.
Doherty can be seen as a weight in the deal for the Wolves Traore man.
Meanwhile, Steven Bergwijn is a target for Ajax, who have failed with an offer of £15m.
And Dele Alli will also be allowed to leave if a suitable offer comes.
