BRIDGETOWN (Reuters) – Barbados declared popular singer Rihanna a national hero at republican celebrations in her hometown of Bridgetown.
Prime Minister Mia Mottley announced that the 33-year-old will be awarded the title of National Hero of Barbados to cheer him on. Rihanna was called to the crowd to be congratulated by Mottley.
“May you continue to shine like a diamond and bring honor to your country with your work, with your actions,” Mottley told Rihanna, referring to the chart-topping single. her 2012 ranking of “Diamonds”.
