A Avengers: Endgame deleted scene could prove a popular theory about villain Thanos (Josh Brolin) was true all along.
The clip, available to watch on the Disney Plus streaming service, is an alternate version of a conversation between the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and the Old One (Tilda Swinton) seen in the film.
Swinton’s character can be seen telling Hulk that removing an Infinity Stone creates a new timeline. However, she then reveals something that was omitted from the film – that she has already used the time stone to see beyond her own death.
Here she drops the grand revelation that Thanos’ destructive finger-snapping, which wiped out half of all existence, didn’t actually kill a single person.
She’s explaining this instead of killing people, Thanos wanted them out of existencewhich made their eventual resurrection possible
While this conveniently explains why Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow – who died trying to bring everyone back – could not be revived, it also shows what could be a future problem for the heroes: Thanos is still alive.
avenger: Endgame ended with Tony Stark snapping his fingers and wiping out Thanos and his army much like Thanos wiped out half the Avengers.
If everyone Thanos wanted out of the world can return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, then surely Thanos can too.
Exactly how the studio’s writers were able to bring him back is a mystery, but perhaps there is another villain trying to enlist the Mad Titan’s services for his future schemes.
