James Cameron has hit back at criticism of his hit 2009 film avatar.
The sci-fi action-adventure became the biggest film release of all time when it first hit theaters, but has had a mixed legacy in recent years.
avatarCritics argue that the film’s protagonist, played by Sam Worthington, can be forgotten – a common complaint is that few can remember his name (Jake Sully).
Others have complained about the film’s length, dialogue, and resemblance to movies like Pochahontus and Fern Canyon.
Speak with Rich Magazine, ahead of the film’s release, Cameron hit back at online “trolls” who hate the film avatar To be continued later this year.
“The trolls will have it, nobody cares, and they can’t remember the characters’ names or a damn thing that happened in the movie,” he said.
“Then they watch the movie again and say, ‘Oh, okay, excuse me, let me just shut up now.’ So I’m not worried about that.”
the new movie, Avatar: The Way of Water, The film is reported to have a running time of around three hours as it is, and Cameron also advocated for longer-length blockbusters.
“I don’t want anyone whining at length sitting there binge-watching [television] eight hours,” he says.
“It’s like, give me a fucking break. I’ve watched my kids do five hour-long episodes in a row. Here’s the big societal paradigm shift that needs to happen: It’s okay to get up and pee.”

Elsewhere, avatar Fans are stumped by the identity of Sigourney Weaver’s character in the upcoming sequel.
When the new film was first announced, it was revealed that Weaver would be part of the cast, although her character died in the first film.
Cameron has also hinted that he may not direct the fourth and fifth avatar films himself.
Avatar: The Way of Water hits theaters in December.
