Arrest warrant filed for former Greenwood Village officer accused of teen murder

AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) – Aurora Police Department has filed an arrest warrant for second degree murder in case one ex-cop engaged in a gunfight with a 17-year-old boy on the eve of Thanksgiving.

Former Greenwood Village Police Officer Adam Holen accused of exchanging guns with Peyton Blitstein driving in the 4900 block of the South Addison neighborhood on Nov. 24. Blitstein later died and Holen was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Surveillance video shows the escalation of the argument and shots being fired. Aurora police say it began as a confrontation between an adult and a group of teenagers over a case of careless driving. As the argument escalated, shots were fired.

According to an Aurora police spokesman, the subpoena is still being reviewed by the district attorney’s office. John Kellner, district attorney in the 18th Judicial District, will ultimately decide whether or not charges are filed.

As of Monday afternoon, a judge had yet to sign the subpoena, so it’s not considered active, according to an APD spokesman.
