Amy – who at 48 is the oldest contestant ever – told how she had to undergo therapy after filming the BBC business competition.

She was distraught after Lord Sugar posted a tweet that read: “Amy didn’t sell she was so slow. Slower than broadband wifi in Cornwall.”

A friend said: “She couldn’t get her head around the gunshots.

“It came in week six because she hadn’t taken on the role of project manager – but they hadn’t shown her commitment to it in week two.

“She thought it was just an excuse to get rid of her.

“When Lord Sugar released his tweets, she found them mean, hurtful and offensive and shared it with them in an email.”

They added: “She knew the last taping was last Wednesday but again they ignored her calls and emails. Then Amy got an email saying invitations were issued at their own discretion.”

On Wednesday morning, Amy had a Zoom meeting with the production bosses at Naked TV, which makes the series for the BBC.

The pal continued, “She felt humiliated during that call.”

Navid Sole, 27, and Harry Mahmood, 38, were also absent from You’re Hired after it was reported they had a heated argument with ex-RAF man Aaron Willis, 38.

Viewers will watch on Thursday as Kathryn Burn, 29, and Harpreet Kaur, 30, battle it out in the final for Lord Sugar’s £250,000 investment partnership.

Amy, Navid and Harry are seen returning to help Kathryn and Harpreet with one last task – but not in the studio spin-off after that.
