Apex Legends players are demanding the Season 12 feature to prevent enemies from abusing lag

Apex Legends players are asking Respawn Entertainment to implement a feature in matches that will prevent enemies with bad connections from taking advantage of their lag and getting ahead in matches.

Any online gamer will know how frustrating a bad internet connection can be – to experience and to play against. Not only does it hamper a player’s ability to eliminate opponents, but it also makes it more annoying when a stuttering enemy manages to eliminate someone with a solid connection.

Now Apex Legends players are asking the game’s developers to implement a feature in online matches that would prevent lagging players from continuing to play.

Apex is in its twelfth season, but some issues persist.

A Reddit post by player’ALFAROM30‘ articulated the point after being eliminated by an opponent who couldn’t be hit due to their lag.

They said “Couldn’t shoot him, now I know why… the game should kick you out if your connection is so sh*tty.”

Many respondents shared this view, with some accusing the opponent of “lag switching”.

This refers to gamers using a literal switch to periodically drop the internet connection to their console or PC, meaning they experience in-game stuttering and are incredibly difficult to play. A feature that removes players on poor connections would probably address any lag switching as well.

Others suggested solutions that would lock players to their region when matchmaking – making them less likely to have a bad connection.

A said, “Apex is probably one of the few games I know of where a bad or high ping connection is actually an advantage.”

The feeling seems to be shared by many Apex players – which in a way explains why they are calling for changes.
