Using crossplay in Apex Legends is crucial if you want to play with and against players on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and even Nintendo Switch. Here’s everything you need to know about cross-platform play in Apex and how to use it.

Whether you want to team up with your friends or make new ones, using crossplay in Apex Legends gives you a whole host of new players to work with, or alternatively, absolutely wipe out (we know which one we prefer).

Although the feature was absent in Apex’s first year, Respawn announced in June 2020 that this would change, as long-awaited cross-platform support would finally make its way to the classic Battle royale game.

So how do you enable crossplay in Apex Legends? Here’s a rundown of everything you need to know to party with friends on all platforms except Apex Mobile.

Is Apex Legends Crossplay?

Yes, Apex Legends does have full crossplay. This means players on PC will be able to play alongside those on current and previous generation Xbox and PlayStation, as well as Nintendo Switch.

To play together, you have to be at a partybut be aware that you will be matched against players from across the console and PC spectrum depending on which platforms your team plays on.

How to add cross-platform friends in Apex Legends

Finding people to play on other platforms is relatively easy. All you need to connect with players on other platforms is their in-game name.

Just follow these steps:

1. Open Apex Legends
2. Navigate to the ‘friends‘ tab from the main menu
3. Press the ‘Find a friend‘ Possibility
4. search for theirs username
5. Select your profile from the drop down menu
6. you are friends now and play with each other cross-platform!
   

Remember the game will automatically search for each player with that name on every system. After you have searched for another player, you have to select him Username matching the platform they keep playing.

Simply search your friends’ usernames across all platforms to find them.

How to disable crossplay

Crossplay is automatically enabled in Apex Legends, so if you don’t have to do anything right away if you want to play with people on other platforms. However, keep in mind that queue times may increase as there is a smaller pool of players to choose from.

If you prefer to stick with those who use the same platform as you:

1. Go to ‘game menu’ (the gear icon) while in the lobby
2. Choose ‘settings‘
3. At the end of the list you will see Cross-platform play
4. Change the setting to Disabled.

The ability to enable and disable crossplay is in the settings menu, but it’s on by default.

Is crossplay enabled for Apex Mobile?

In your official FAQ For the mobile version of the legendary battle royale, Respawn writes: “Apex Legends Mobile is being developed specifically for mobile devices, so there will be no cross-play with the console or PC versions of Apex Legends.”

Apex Legends Mobile is a completely different game than regular Apex Legends, meaning cross-play will never be possible in its current state.
