More Santa Ana winds are heading into Southern California this week, bringing gusts to mountainous areas and foothills and are expected to peak Wednesday morning, meteorologists said. January.

“With any kind of strong wind, there’s always the possibility that trees will be blown away and anything outdoors could be blown around,” said Casey Oswant, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. “Another concern could be the pickup trucks driving on the highway.”

Wind gusts of 25 to 35 mph were seen in the Inland Empire on Tuesday afternoon, but they are likely to strengthen by Wednesday morning.

Coastal areas in Orange or Los Angeles counties are not expected to see much wind.

Temperatures on Wednesday will be slightly warmer than usual, Oswant said. The peaks in the Inland Empire are expected in the mid 70’s and mid 60’s in Orange County.

In Los Angeles County, temperatures are forecast in the 70s in valley areas, about 5 to 10 degrees above normal for this time of year, said David Sweet, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. said.

Wind gusts in Los Angeles County can reach speeds of 50 mph in the mountains and about 45 mph in the valley, he said.

More wind is expected on Friday.
