Andy “Fletch” Fletcher of Depeche Mode has died at 60

Andy “Fletch” Fletcher, founding member of English electronic music band Depeche Mode, has died at the age of 60.
The band went to her official Twitter account to announce the heartbreaking news on Thursday.
“We are shocked and filled with overwhelming sadness at the untimely death of our dear friend, family member and bandmate Andy ‘Fletch’ Fletcher,” the statement said. “Fletch had a true heart of gold and was always there when you needed support, a lively conversation, a good laugh or a cold pint.”

They said their “hearts are with his family” and asked that the family be given privacy during their time of mourning.
Formed in 1980, five-time Grammy nominated Depeche Mode was formed by bandmates Dave Gahan, Martin Gore and Fletcher in Basildon, UK. According to a 2009 Billboard feature, the band had by then sold more than 100 million records while touring has reached millions and released 17 albums.
In 2020, the trio was inducted as a band into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Fans were quick to respond to the loss on Twitter.
“Depeche Mode means so much to me and has helped me a lot this year, thank you Andy Fletcher for making the music you’ve made.” wrote one user.
“My mother got me into the music of Depeche Mode when I was about 3/4 years old and even through difficult times and after her death the music was that connection for me and that connection that we have in common.” another shared.
“I’m so devastated. I have lovesickness,” said another.
“I’m drugged,” one said.
