Amouranth reveals the main reason she decided to stop being an ‘e-girl’

Amouranth revealed the reason she chose not to be an “e-girl,” claiming it was a “constant grind” and made it difficult to appeal to mainstream audiences while doing “questionable things.”

On April 13, Amouranth shocked the world after announcing that she had decided to step away from “e-girl” content and instead do something more akin to “old media” content — which means that it would be more “conventional”.

It came as a big surprise as she was mostly known for doing “e-girl” content during her rise to fame. She’s even been dubbed the “queen” of Twitch’s whirlpool meta after it helped her become one of the most-watched streamers on the platform.

However, Amouranth has a knack for making optimal decisions when it comes to their brand and business. She believes the decision to quit e-girl boots once and for all is one of them, and she’s explained why.

Amouranth was known for doing what she described as “e-girl” content.

First, she opened up about how her content will be different. “I have to optimize to be the fun part of Amouranth,” she said. “I know she’s in there because people think I’m funny on collabs.”

“For this I have to optimize instead of farming [people who want that content] because in recent years the strategy has been agriculture [those people] and convert them to my other social media [platforms].

“It’s going to be more about growing the audience so one day I can actually have an audience that hopefully has at least an average attention span so I can educate them and make a difference with my goals at the shelter.”

Amouranth decided to retire from e-girl content.

Then she explained why she stopped. “It’s one of the reasons I want to retire from the e-girl stuff. It’s a constant grind. That’s where most of my time goes. Make sure I have enough conversions to other paid platforms.

“It’s been really difficult to increase the quality and entertainment of my Twitch stream to appeal to a mainstream audience while I’ve been so focused on doing things that definitely don’t appeal to that at all.

“It’s hard to switch [between them] while I’m on these other platforms doing all sorts of questionable things. It’s really difficult to go back and forth because they just require different sides of you at different times.”

Amouranth has long been one of the most dominant e-girl streamers. In fact, their popularity transcends the niche. She was the top female star on Twitch in 2021 and is on track to do it again.

It will be interesting to see what kind of content she will create in the future and what kind of community she will foster after the turnaround. Either way, it’s the start of an exciting new chapter for them and their fans.
