Viewers of the long-running talent show were confused by Anderson’s absence from the final episode.
Host Ryan Seacrest finally addressed this after her previously taped performance of Christina Perri’s “Human” was shown, explaining, “You may have noticed that right now during Kenedi’s performance there was no voting information.
“Since we used to tape these shows in Hawaii, Kenedi has decided to retire from our show for personal reasons,” he said, adding, “We send her our well wishes and, needless to say, we are in this one.” historical season have an incredible talent , with more iconic idol performance that is due for you now.”
Anderson herself shared a message on Instagram after the episode, telling her fans, “Due to personal reasons, I can’t continue american idol. It was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make, but I know it’s necessary.”

“Thank you for giving me such an amazing opportunity to share my voice, pursue my dreams, find so much joy and happiness in what I love, and make lifelong friends in the process.”
Anderson became one of the first frontrunners after her audition, where she performed a piano cover of Lady Gaga’s “Applause.”
She received a standing ovation from judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.
Anderson was so popular that she was one of three contestants to earn a platinum ticket, hastening her past Hollywood week.
