Amber Heard’s team accuses Johnny Depp of trying to get Aquaman to fire them as lyrics were shown in court

Johnny Depp has been accused of trying to fire Amber Heard from the Aquaman franchise.

The actor returned to the witness stand Wednesday (May 25) for further testimony in his multimillion-dollar defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Heard. He was recalled for refuting his own team.

During his testimony, Depp was challenged on whether he tried to fire Heard Aquaman.

Heard’s attorney, Ben Rottenborn, asked Depp, “They also tried to fire her Aquaman after the restraining order, right?”

In May 2016, a Los Angeles judge issued a restraining order against Depp von Heard. The documents, filed by attorneys representing Heard at the time, alleged that Depp “violently assaulted” her in her penthouse apartment.

Rottenborn urged the actor to answer the question with “yes or no,” to which Depp said, “I can’t please you with a yes or no every time.”

Depp replied, “The answer is no,” after which Rottenborn showed the court a text message Depp sent to his sister, Christi Dimbrowski, on June 4, 2016.

The lyrics read: “I want her replaced on this WB [Warner Bros] Movie!!!”. Depp confirmed that “she” was referring to Heard.

After you see the text, the Pirates of the Caribbean Star asked, “Am I trying to fire her?”

Depp continued: “[Dimbrowski] doesn’t work at Warner Bros. She can’t fire Amber.”

Rottenborn further claimed that Depp reached out to Warner Bros executives to get Heard fired from her role.

Depp began saying that he “came up because I checked it out [Heard]’ before being interrupted by Rottenborn for a ‘yes or no’ answer. The actor replied, “No.”

Rottenburn shared a particularly graphic text message that Depp sent to talent agent Christian Carino via Heard.

In it, Depp says, “She’s asking for total global humiliation… She’s going to get it.”

Depp is suing Heard for $50m (£38.2m). He claims Heard implied he abused her in 2018 Washington Post Commentary on domestic violence.

Heard is filing a $100million (£80.9million) counterclaim accusing Depp of organizing a “defamation campaign” against her and calling his lawsuit a continuation of “abuse and harassment”.

At the beginning of his testimony, Depp denied Heard’s previous claims that he didn’t help her secure her role Aquamanstating, “That’s not quite right.”

The actor claimed he called Warner Bros. executives and helped “contain their worries.”

Viewers also saw Depp “smile” on his screen as he watched former partner Kate Moss testify that he “never pushed me, kicked me, or threw me down a flight of stairs.”

As the Fairfax County, Virginia court case continues, a number of high-profile figures have expressed their support for Heard, including Julia Fox, Rachel Riley and Kathy Griffin.

Others have publicly backed Depp, including celebrities like Winona Ryder, Javier Bardem and Eva Green, who appear to have sided with him in the dispute.
