All the suspects that could have killed Ben in Only Murders in the Building

Only Murders in the Building season 3 follows the mysterious death of Ben Glenroy, but who are the suspects who might have wanted to kill him?
*WARNING: Spoilers for Season 3 of Only Murders in the Building* – Since Only Murders in the Building debuted on Hulu and Disney+ in 2021, Only Murders in the Building has delivered some compelling mysteries, but the death of Ben Glenroy in Season 3 seems to be the most puzzling case yet.
Ben Glenroy’s death in Only Murders in the Building Season 3
As hinted at in the cliffhanger ending of Season 2, Season 3 of Only Murders in the Building centers on the death of Ben Glenrory, a Hollywood superstar played by Paul Rudd, who made his Broadway debut in the play Death Rattle,” Oliver’s longtime star. expected return to directing.
However, nothing is ever easy in this series, and that’s especially true when it comes to Ben’s death.
While the actor initially collapses on stage and is pronounced dead by paramedics, this won’t be the last we see of him as Ben suddenly reappears at the opening party/performing ceremony after being revived in hospital.
However, shortly after returning safe and sound, Ben dies for the second time in one night, after falling or being pushed into one of the Arconia’s malfunctioning elevator shafts.

The main suspects who could have killed Ben in Only Murders in the Building
In the early aftermath of Ben’s death, there aren’t many clear suspects who would have the means, motive, and opportunity to kill him.
The most likely suspect so far is Loretta, the struggling actress played by Meryl Streep.
From the first table reading of the play, she and Ben didn’t get along, and upon his return from the dead, the two insult each other in front of the entire cast and crew.
What makes Loretta increasingly suspicious is that she leaves the party shortly after Ben, and when we next see him he’s dead – for real this time.
However, since Loretta is the most obvious choice so far, one could argue that that’s why she’s the least suspicious, as the show’s writers are likely to want to surprise viewers with a dramatic twist in the final episodes.

The next most likely suspect, at least in our minds, is Howard Morris.
The Arconian resident reveals that he auditioned for Oliver’s play but had to settle for being his assistant instead, and we also learn that his friend Jonathan is Ben’s understudy.
Our theory about Howard is based on the fact that he might be jealous because he wasn’t in the play and tried to have Ben killed so he or at least Jonathan could have a role in the production.
The fact that Howard’s actor Michael Cyril Creighton was promoted to a regular rather than a recurring role in Season 3 also suggests that he has a much larger role to play.
A possible third option could be that Ben’s death was staged – twice. This theory is related to the documentary Ben is making about his Broadway debut as his death could potentially be a marketing ploy to attract more viewers.

Still to be investigated
In addition to the suspects already mentioned, any member of the Death Rattle cast and crew could potentially have killed Ben in Only Murders in the Building.
That’s because the biggest clue we have to Ben’s second death is that he was holding a “Death Rattle” commemorative handkerchief, which he gave to each member of the production as an opening gift.
This means that any of the following could be considered suspects: fellow actors Kimber (Ashley Park from Emily in Paris), Ty (Gerald Caesar) and Bobo (Don Darryl Rivera), and stage manager KT (Allison Guinn).
When Ben actually shows up at the opening party, he walks around each member of the cast and crew to apologize for previous altercations, suggesting that each of them might have a motive to kill him.

It also includes the show’s producers, Donna (Linda Emond) and Cliff (Wesley Taylor).
One person who stands by Ben at all times is his brother and manager Dickie (Jeremy Shamos) and it’s clear the two have a strained relationship. Could Dickie have freaked out?
And finally, the last newcomer we have to mention is Tobert (Jesse Willaims), the hidden cameraman who is shooting the documentary. As the play progressed in pre-production, the cast grew accustomed to Tobert’s presence and began to ignore him, giving him the perfect opportunity to go where he wanted unnoticed.
One potential hoax we spotted at the opening party is a banner in Oliver’s apartment with the slogan “We killed her.” It’s probably nothing more than a bit of innocent stage decoration, but it could be a clue that multiple people behind Ben’s death? We’ll have to keep watching to find out.
