Alex Telles is brutally targeted by Chelsea but Cristiano Ronaldo’s strike earns a lackluster point for the home side

MANCHESTER UNITED fought their way to an unlikely draw as Chelsea dominated them at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils played like a team wishing their season would just end Talk of riots in the dressing room and players who want out.
Among those likely to leave is Jesse Lingard, who was left out altogether after Paul Scholes slipped that the Man United midfielder had told him the dressing room was a ‘disaster’.
Those who took to the field tonight played at half the pace but somehow weren’t asked to pay by a Blues side who also seemed ready to hit the beach, despite their FA Cup final next month.
Marcos Alonso volleyed Chelsea in the lead on the hour mark, only for Cristiano Ronaldo equalize only two minutes later.
SunSport’s Etienne Fermie rated each Man United performer that night.

DAVID DEGEA-7
Took a square in the chest to deny Kai Havertz a one-on-one. Had to be alert to contest Timo Werner’s subsequent low drive.
The Spaniard was helpless when Marcos Alonso volleyed past him.
DIOGO DALOT-5
Not close to Marcos Alonso as the Spaniard volleyed Chelsea ahead.
The Portuguese was largely spared by the Blues’ relentless attack on Alex Telles on the opposite flank.

VICTOR LINDELOF – 5
Caught hopelessly out of position by Havertz in the first half, only to be saved by his keeper.
The Swede was often guilty of watching the ball and didn’t offer great distribution from behind.
Raphael Varane – 6
Considering Real Madrid’s deep run in the Champions League, he needs to think seriously about his life choices.
The experienced Frenchman put in a passable performance at the back.
ALEX TELLES- 4
Struggled to deal with Mason Mount, Timo Werner and Reece James in the first 45. Constantly targeted by Chelsea’s nimble attackers.
The Blues’ opener of the second half was created on the Telles side, although the Brazilian was often left without help as he was tormented by James.
SCOTT MCTOMINAY-5
Busy buzzed around, but was sometimes caught off guard by Chelsea’s movements.
The academy graduate didn’t spare any effort but failed to give his side any great presence in the middle of the park.
NEMANJA MATIC – 6
Was named in the starting XI but you wouldn’t have known, such was his anonymity during a lumbering first 45.
Eventually showed up with a great chip assist for Cristiano Ronaldo. Nothing may have been done when he stepped on Reece James.
ANTHONY ELANGA-5
The Swede wowed fans with a labyrinthine late run despite struggling to get into a game United failed to match.
Clattered by Antonio Rüdiger in the closing stages.
BRUNO FERNANDES – 5
Briefly got the crowd going with a tough but fair fight against Marcos Alonso.
The Portuguese didn’t have a good season and tonight he won’t be remembered fondly.
MARCUS RASHFORD-4
Took a clatter from Reece James early in the second half.
Winger was completely anonymous before being substituted.
CRISTIANO RONALDO-7
Glorious first touch and finish to equalize for United in the second half.
The Portuguese put in a lot of effort and used his only clear chance brilliantly.
