Alec Baldwin shed tears as she recalled the moment Halyna Hutchins was shot, insisting she ‘didn’t pull the trigger’.

The 63-year-old actor opened fire on the set of Rust in October and accidentally shot and killed the cameraman.

Hutchins, 42, was airlifted to a hospital in New Mexico but died of her injuries.

He sat down to discuss with George Stephanopoulos for an unscripted prime-time special, which is airing Thursdays on ABC, has become emotional about the tragedy.

In a teaser for the interview, shared on the Good Morning America Twitter account, the 30-year-old rock star said: ‘She is someone who is loved by everyone who works with her, loved by everyone. she works with like and admire.

“Even now, I still find it hard to believe it, it just doesn’t seem real to me.”

He wiped away tears when asked how he ‘faced the conditions’ with what happened on set.

Baldwin also said he did not point a gun at Hutchins and pull the trigger on the Western set.

“The trigger was not in the script,” commented Stephanopoulos, to which he replied: “Well, the trigger wasn’t pulled, I didn’t pull the trigger.

“No, no, no, no, no, I would never point a gun at anyone and pull the trigger on them, never.”

Asked if this was the ‘worst thing’ that ever happened to him, he added: ‘Yes. Because I think back and I think about… what I could have done. ‘

The full interview will air on ABC tomorrow, at 8 p.m. ET.

Stephanopoulos appeared on Good Morning America earlier in the day to discuss the conversation and described it as the most ‘tense’ interview he’s ever done.

‘I’ve done thousands of interviews over the last twenty years at ABC. This is the most stressful I’ve ever been through,’ he told the council.

‘Very raw. As you can imagine, he’s devastated, but he’s also very outspoken, he’s very forthcoming.

‘He answered every question,’ he said of Halyna Hutchins, spoke of meeting with her family.

‘[He] recounted in detail what happened on set that day, and I must tell you I was surprised in many places during the hour and twenty minutes we sat down yesterday. ‘

Baldwin cooperated with detectives while the police are investigating the incident, and have kept quiet after the tragedy.

He spoke out in the days following Hutchins’ death, expressing his grief over the incident in a statement on social media.

“There are no words to express my shock and grief over the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother, and co-worker we greatly admire,” he said. he wrote on Twitter at the time.

‘I am fully cooperating with the police investigation into how this tragedy happened and I am in contact with her husband offering his support and his family.

‘My heart breaks for her husband, their son, and everyone who knows and loves Halyna.’
