PARIS (Reuters) – European aerospace and defense group Airbus is interested in acquiring the cybersecurity business of French software company Atos, French broadcaster BFM TV said on Thursday, citing sources with knowledge of the matter.
Airbus did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
BFM quoted a source in its report as saying Airbus had been exploring a possible acquisition of Atos for the past few weeks, fueled by its interest in cybersecurity, but adding that no full acquisition is on the cards at this point.
“(Airbus CEO) Guillaume Faury believes that this issue (Atos) is too complicated given Airbus interests,” BFM quoted a source as saying.
The report added that the group therefore decided against buying Atos as a whole, as it has no interest in acquiring the French company’s other activities.
