AG Stein admitted to the hospital after a “slight stroke”.

RALEIGH, NC (WNCN) – North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein said he suffered a “minor stroke.”

Stone tweeted that he had stroke-like symptoms after a walk with his wife and dog. Stein said he was taken to the hospital.

There, the Attorney General said doctors had confirmed he had suffered a minor stroke. Stein said he underwent a procedure to remove a small blood clot.

At his post, Stein thanked paramedics for transporting him and medical staff for looking after him.

“I have so much to thank this morning, especially my loving family. Just thinking about her makes my heart melt,” Stein said on Twitter.

The Attorney General called his wife a hero for realizing something was wrong. He said it was she who insisted he go to the hospital.

“I feel normal now and am beyond blessed to have no lasting effects,” Stein tweeted.

Stein said doctors want him to stay in the hospital for a day or two to rest before going back to work.

The CDC lists the following as signs of a possible stroke:

  • Suddenly deafness or weakness in the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body
  • Suddenly confusionDifficulty speaking or understanding language
  • Suddenly difficulty seeing in one or both eyes
  • Suddenly problems walkingDizziness, loss of balance or coordination problems
  • Suddenly strong headache with no known cause

If you think you may have or have had a stroke, do not go to the hospital. Have someone drive you or call 911.

If you think someone might be having a stroke, CDC recommends using the FAST test:

  • F – Face: Ask the person to smile. Is one side of the face drooping?
  • A—Arms: Ask the person to raise both arms. Is one arm drifting down?
  • S—Language: Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is the speech slurred or strange?
