Adams, Nadler say NYC hosting 2024 DNC is best for Dems

Mayor Eric Adams and Rep. Jerry Nadler said New York City is exactly what their party needs to retain the presidency and joined forces in a court bust Saturday for the Big Apple to host the 2024 Democratic National Convention can.
“The Democratic Convention will get media everywhere, but more media will come in New York,” said Nader, D-NY, during a Midtown rally attended by about 100 union leaders, politicians and other supporters.
“The Democratic National Committee has to be New York if it’s going to maximize the odds of winning and … support union jobs and organizations.”
Adams boasted that New York was America’s “safest big city” and the only logical place to host the convention.
“There’s something special about this city, and the DNC holding this convention here would send out a message that America is special,” Adams said.

In addition to New York, Chicago and Atlanta are also potential hosts.
While many close to him are reportedly expecting President Joe Biden to seek re-election in 2024, the 80-year-old Democrat has yet to campaign.
The Big Apple last hosted the DNC in 1992 when Bill Clinton received the Democratic nominee before eventually being elected president.

If New York is chosen, Madison Square Garden would be the central location for the event, and the nearby, newly expanded Javits Center would house other gatherings.
In 2016, under then-Mayor Bill de Blasio, the city fell through in its bid to move the DNC to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
When asked how that offer compared to the city’s recent attempt to score the convention, Adams deflected the question and said, “We’re going to do it!”
