Accused New York subway bomber Frank James indicted by grand jury

A federal grand jury has indicted subway gunman Frank James of committing a terrorist attack on a mass transit system, a crime that could carry a sentence of life in prison if convicted.
The indictment, filed Friday in federal court in Brooklyn, also charges James with firing a gun during a violent crime. If convicted on these charges, James faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life in prison.
James, 62, is accused of opening fire on a crowded rush-hour train in Sunset Park on April 12, killing 10 people.

If found guilty, the government will seek confiscation of James’ assets, including a 9mm Glock pistol seized in Brooklyn, the indictment said.
The case was assigned to Judge William Kuntz and no date was set for James’ indictment.
An attorney for James did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
