Aaron Dudley is accused of murdering and burning a pregnant sister

A California man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his heavily pregnant sister and setting her body on fire just days after her baby shower, police said.

The Fresno Police Department on Wednesday announced the arrest of 41-year-old Aaron Dudley for the murder of 26-year-old N’kya Rebecca Logan and her unborn son in Fresno.

A maintenance team discovered Logan’s burning body Tuesday afternoon near an apartment complex on the 4400 block of North Cornelia Street, ABC30 reported.

A witness told police, who were called to the scene, that they saw a suspect push a municipal garbage can across a dirt road near the condominium and then set fire to its contents.

Surveillance video from the area reportedly caught Dudley pushing the bin on the day of the incident, police said.

Dudley was arrested trying to flee the West Fresno home he shared with his sister and her mother when police officers were executing a search warrant there.

Authorities said Logan is 36 weeks pregnant and celebrated her baby shower on Dec. 11, just two days before her murder, which Fresno Police Chief Paco Balderrama called “terrible.”

Balderrama said Logan plans to name their baby son Noah. The child died after being pricked in the uterus multiple times, the chief said.

Investigators believe Dudley repeatedly stabbed his younger sister with an edged weapon, dumped her body in the city’s trash can, wheeled the container four blocks to the dirt road, doused the body in gasoline and set it alight.

Police didn’t say what may have motivated the murder, but they did reveal officers were previously called to the siblings’ home on July 28, 2021, when Logan complained that she feared for their safety.

Balderrama said Dudley was seen as a threat to himself and others in the incident and was detained for 72 hours.

Dudley now faces two counts of murder because his sister’s unborn baby may have survived outside the womb, officials said.

“It takes a lot of evil, hate and planning to stab your own sister multiple times,” Balderrama said at the press conference, adding that he hasn’t stopped thinking about the case since he first found out about it
