A New York man tried to steal money from donations from the Catholic Church

Police are looking for a man who tried to steal money from a donation box at a Queens church.

The Palm Sunday incident happened around 6:35 p.m. when a man in his 50s was seen on surveillance video strolling into the Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in Astoria and attempting to pry open the box with a tool.

The thief, who failed in his attempt to open the poor box and left, was described as 5ft 10, of medium build and curly hair. He was last spotted wearing a black hoodie, gray sweatpants, black boots and a black shoulder bag.
