A 58-year-old man with nearly 100 arrests, who was released from prison two weeks ago on charges of sexual abuse, is said to have assaulted a police officer on a subway this week, police sources said on Friday.
Damon Callaway is accused of slapping officers in the face after officers pulled him over for fare beating at West 125th Street and the St. Nicholas Avenue station in Harlem around 5:45 p.m. Thursday, sources said.
The officer, who was also spat on by Callaway, was being treated at St. Luke’s Hospital for a facial cut and bruises, sources said
The ex-convict was charged with assaulting a police officer and was awaiting charges on Friday.
Callaway’s latest legal troubles come after he was arrested on October 15 for violent touching. He spent just over a month in prison before pleading guilty on November 28 and being released after serving time and a one-year parole. The details of this sexual abuse case were not immediately available.
Callaway, who has 99 arrests on his criminal record, is on the NYPD’s list of repeat sex offenders in the transit system, sources said.
Nineteen of his earlier busts are charged with resisting arrest, the sources added.
