‘A lot’: Sky pundit reacts to alleged twist on Arsenal transfer involving ‘top player’

Jody Morris has helped both Arsenal and Brentford change their transfer deal for David Raya by initially putting him on loan.
Everyone thought David Raya would make a permanent move to the Emirates this summer, but Arsenal are set to sign the Spanish star on a “£3million” loan deal instead, with a “£27million” option to buy it at the end, as reported by Sky Sports.
Former Chelsea manager Jody Morris praised the Bees as an “extremely well-run club” and added that the Gunners can monitor what the player is doing before making a decision, he told The Transfer Show Sky Sports (8/9/23 at 7:25 p.m.).
That makes things very interesting as there has been a lot of talk about Raya being signed by Premier League title challengers – Peter Schmeichel just can’t believe the London club are going down that route.
Many believe Mikel Arteta already has an established number one in Aaron Ramsdale, but his manager is clearly keen to create more competition – Michael Owen described Raya as “top notch” last season and one of the best in the league, he said Premier League Productions (3/6/23 at 7:35 p.m.).
It’s dangerous for some but Arsenal are moving on as Morris reacted to the transfer turnaround.

“I have said before that Brentford are an extremely well run club and have been for a number of years,” said Morris.
“They have a top manager by their side and they want to make sure they protect themselves. Okay, signing a new contract with Brentford might look like a lot on paper.
“But it just means that Arsenal are taking on any new salaries that he has switched to, so there are no new salaries that they will be paying for the new player.”
“If they like what they see and want to make it a permanent deal then that deal is still there, while Brentford know they have a goalkeeper when things aren’t going too well and Raya wants to do it .” Come back and Brentford will be in pole position.”

Interesting move by Arsenal
This has sparked debate and in truth, it is not Arsenal’s first signing under Arteta that has caused such a stir.
Even this summer, the capture of Kai Havertz created a lot of talk and whether or not he has the quality to help Arsenal win the Premier League title.
Most of the time, Arteta was right, and maybe, just maybe, this will prove to be another brilliant move on his part
