A chilling video shows a gunman shooting at cops in Coney Island

A startling new video shows the moment a gunman opened fire on NYPD cops in Coney Island on Thursday night – and how the gunman on his back continued to fiercely fire rounds until he went limp.
Surveillance video obtained by The Post on Friday shows the man, identified by police as Jermaine Hickson, standing at a crosswalk with a gun in his right hand and apparently with a woman on the sidewalk about 15 feet away in West 36th Street and Mermaid Avenue speaks at around 10:15 p.m
The woman is seen stopping two police vehicles as they enter the intersection.
The 42-year-old then slowly turns and raises the gun, firing at least four rounds at cops as they step out of their NYPD cruiser.
Video shows Hickson collapsing to the ground and apparently shot – but rolled over shortly after and continuing to fire at officers from the sidewalk.
He then cocks the pistol, sits up, and fires twice more before officers appear to fire a fatal shot, video shows.
Hickson, whose last run-in with the law was almost two decades ago, was pronounced dead at the scene.
NYPD Patrol Chief Jeffrey Maddrey told reporters early Friday that police responded to the intersection after receiving reports of a man firing rounds there.
It was not immediately clear how many shots the four responding officers fired.
Hickson was believed to be involved in a domestic dispute with the two women, who called the police.
