9,909 Massachusetts Schools Test Positive For COVID-19 In The Last 2 Weeks – CBS Boston

BOSTON (CBS) – There have been 9,909 cases of coronavirus among students and staff at Massachusetts schools in the past two weeks, according to the latest data from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
School districts, collaborators, and special education schools reported 8,513 cases among students and 1,396 among staff between November 18 and December 1. The overall percentage of children who tested positive calculated within this time frame was 0.93%, while 1.0% of employees tested positive.

Due to Thanksgiving, the file numbers for the week of November 18-24 were released on Thursday along with the numbers from November 25 to December 1.

Here are the number of cases in the previous weeks between students and staff across the Commonwealth:
- From 11 to 17 November: 3,815 cases (3,257 children, 558 staff)
- November 4-10: 3,021 cases (2,640 children, 381 staff)
- October 29 to November 3: 3,963 cases (3,381 children, 582 employees)
The state estimates that there are approximately 920,000 students in the classrooms at Massachusetts public schools and 140,000 face-to-face employees this school year.
