77,647 Total Breakthrough COVID Cases Reported in Massachusetts, 1.6% of Immunized – CBS Boston

BOSTON (CBS) – The number of breakthrough COVID cases in Massachusetts increased by 6,610 cases this week.
On Tuesday, the state released its weekly report on the number of cases of the disease in vaccinated people.

This week’s cumulative toll is 77,647, or 1.6 percent of the 4.8 million people in Massachusetts who are fully immunized.

Last week, the state reported 71,037 breakout cases.
Of the breakout cases, a cumulative total of 2,443 vaccinated people had been hospitalized as of Saturday, up from 2,285 the previous week. However, that number represents only 0.05% of vaccinated Massachusetts residents.

There have been a total of 586 deaths among those vaccinated, up from 552 last week, or 0.01% of those who were vaccinated against COVID.
