7 charged in connection with a robbery of the Netflix set Lupin

Seven youths were charged with armed robbery because of their alleged role in the police force brazen daylight attack about the French film crew of “Lupin”, a Netflix series about a burglar. Last month, a gang of about 20 hooded thieves threw firecrackers at the crew and made off with about $330,000 worth of gear.

Three of the accused robbers, aged between 13 and 21, are in custody and four are under judicial supervision. The police are still looking for other attackers and have recovered some of the stolen devices. This is reported by the Agence France-Presse Saturday.

The crew, along with series star Omar Sy, were shooting on a late February afternoon in the Pablo Picasso district of the Paris suburb of Nanterre when they were attacked.

No one in the cast or crew – including Sy – was injured.

The show tells the story of professional thief Assane Diop, played by Sy. The series was inspired by the fictional French master of disguises, Arsène Lupin.

Lupine isn’t the only high-profile Netflix production to be targeted by thieves this year.

The day before the robbery in Paris, robbers in South Yorkshire in the UK stole more than 200 antique props from the set of the TV series The Crown.

The two robberies are not believed to be connected.
