A woman and a 6-year-old boy are in critical condition after they were hit by a runaway car in Harlem on Monday morning.
The 38-year-old woman and child were struck when the car lost control and mounted the sidewalk at the corner of 145th Street and Malcolm X Boulevard around 8:30 a.m., police said.
The two pedestrians were taken to a Harlem hospital for treatment.
Police could not immediately say if the woman and child were related.
The 68-year-old driver of the vehicle, who remained at the scene, was also taken to hospital in serious but stable condition, police said.
Footage from witnesses showed debris strewn on the sidewalk after the accident.
A badly damaged red vehicle was also seen on the sidewalk.
No arrests were made, but the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad was investigating.
