OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – A local organization says hundreds of lives have been saved through organ donation.

Oklahoma’s LifeShare says 2021 will be the eighth consecutive year of breaking records for organ donation.

In 2021, LifeShare recovered 584 organs from 233 organ donors.

As a result, 518 lives were saved.

“We are proud that despite the continued challenges of the pandemic, LifeShare has had another record year thanks to our hospital partners, volunteers, and passionate staff, who have always been diligent. The ability to work to save lives,” said Jeffrey Orlowski, President and CEO of LifeShare. “None of this, however, would have been possible without the generosity of our sponsoring families, who went above and beyond their own pain to save the lives of others.” .

However, officials say there are 600 Oklahomans still waiting for an organ donation.

LifeShare encourages all Oklahomans to sign up as organ, eye and tissue donors and share your decision with your family.

You can give the gift of life by registering as a sponsor at www.LifeShareRegistry.org.
