LAKELAND, FL. – The Lakeland Police Department is currently investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred on Kathleen Road.
On Monday, November 29, 2021, at approximately 9:43 p.m., officers responded to a traffic accident involving a vehicle near section 1000 of Kathleen Road. According to reports, shortly before the accident, a Hyundai sedan was traveling north on Kathleen Road.
As the vehicle was trying to go through a bend in the road, it hit the raised median and then collided with a tree located in the median.
The Lakeland Police Department Patrol Unit, Polk County Fire Rescue, and the Lakeland Fire Department all arrived on the scene and began administering life-saving measures. The driver, a 42-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
The road was closed for about three hours while the scene was processed for further investigation.
