3 more Florida men charged in US Capitol attack

Officials said three more Florida men, one with links to a far-right group, were arrested on charges of being involved in storming the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

WASHINGTON – Three more Florida men, one with links to a far-right group, have been arrested in connection with the storming of the U.S. Capitol during the January 6, 2021 uprising. , officials said.

Alan Fischer III, 28 years old, of Tampa; Zachary Johnson, 33 years old, of St.Petersburg; and Dion Rajewski, 61, of Largo; was arrested Thursday and charged with civil disorder, according to federal court records. Fischer and Rajewski were also charged with assaulting, resisting or obstructing certain officers with a dangerous weapon.

The men are being prosecuted in federal court in Washington, DC.

According to the criminal complaint, Fischer marched to the Capitol with members of the Proud Boys, a group that describes itself as “a pro-Western fraternal organization for men who refuse to apologize for creating Modern world; aka the Western Europeans. ”

Fischer was part of a team that confronted law enforcement at the arched entrance leading to the building’s walkway, officials said. The group rallied against officers, sometimes kicking together in concert, to get inside the building, authorities said. Fischer then moved to the west front of the Capitol, where he threw chairs, orange traffic cones and poles at officers, prosecutors said.

Johnson and Rajewski were charged with possession of pepper spray, and Johnson was charged with aiding and abetting its use against officers. Johnson also carried a sledgehammer, officials said.

Online records do not list attorneys for any of the men.

As of January 6, 2021, more than 725 people have been arrested in nearly 50 states on charges related to the trespassing on the US Capitol, officials said. More than 70 of those arrested are from Florida. More than 225 people have been charged with assault or obstruction of law enforcement.
