FAYETTEVILLE, NC (WNCN) — One person was found dead outside a hotel and two others later died at a hospital after five people were injured in a shooting in Fayetteville on Saturday night, police said.
The shooting was reported just after 8:50 p.m. in the Baymont Ramada parking lot at 1707 Owen Drive, according to Fayetteville police.
When police and medical personnel arrived, they initially found four people who had been shot.
One man died at the scene and a man who was taken to a nearby hospital later died there, police said in a press release. A third person later died in a hospital, police said just after 11:30 p.m
A fifth victim was discovered later Saturday night and taken to a hospital for treatment.
Another victim who was wounded has non-life-threatening injuries and was also at a local hospital, police said.
Located in south Fayetteville near Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
A car with a broken window was seen in the parking lot. A wooden bat that resembled a baseball bat was also seen on the sidewalk of the parking lot.
“The circumstances of the shooting are being investigated by members of the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Squad,” the press release said.
