FAYETTEVILLE, NC (WNCN) – The Fayetteville Police Department has announced the results of an initiative encouraging people to turn themselves in.

Through the department’s warrant initiative, anyone with active warrants for nonviolent crimes has been asked to volunteer Wednesday through Friday. In return, the police released her with a new court date, according to the initiative, against a written promise to appear in court or on unsecured bail.

As a result, officials said 29 arrests were made, consisting of about 54 charges.

The initiative also resulted in someone providing the whereabouts of a wanted suspect, leading to the execution of a search warrant, a drug bust, and two arrestsso the police.

Fayetteville Police say criminal history was also considered in the filing.
