2022 AT&T Byron Nelson Picks: The Best Longshot Golf Bets

With the second Major Championship of the year on the horizon, the PGA TOUR will make a brief pit stop in Dallas for the 2022 AT&T Byron Nelson before heading to Tulsa for the 2022 PGA Championship.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is leading the pack at TPC Craig Ranch and is the consensus favorite at +900. Scheffler is joined by Justin Thomas (+1200), Jordan Spieth (+1700), Dustin Johnson (+1900) and Sam Burns (+1900) at the helm of the board.

This is only the second time this 7,468-yard, par-72 tournament has hosted this event. KH Lee took home the title at 25 under par last year, so this could end up being a birdie-fest.

While this field is a little top-heavy compared to what we typically see the week before a major, there are still a few long shots that are worth a punt at the 2022 Byron Nelson.

AT&T Byron Nelson Longshot Golf Betting and Tips

Mito Pereira +8500 (FanDuel)

Mito Pereira has been a trending longshot and DFS has played in a number of stops this season, but the Chilean is yet to cash in with a T13 result in the Valero Texas Open rankings as his best result of 2022. Still, it’s not like the 27-year-old has struggled. In fact, Pereira has finished T30 or better in five of his last six full-field events, and has had two top-15 finishes in that mix. Pereira’s three Korn Ferry Tour victories earned him a spot of 20-under or better, so that scoring environment should suit his game.

Matthew Wolff
PGA TOUR

Matthew Wolff +10000 (BetRivers)

It’s been a while since Matthew Wolff has been contested in a PGA TOUR field, but last week’s T25 finish at Wells Fargo gave a glimpse of the player we’ve seen in the top 5 at the majors in 2020. Wolff probably has a long way to go before he’s at his best again, but this course shouldn’t be such a tough test and may be just what he needs to start singing again. Once he does that, you will no longer see such awards next to his name.

Dylan Fritelli +12500 (BetMGM)

While he didn’t threaten the top of the leaderboard too much, Dylan Fritelli made seven cuts on spin and should have some advantages over the field given his local connections. The South African is a University of Texas graduate and has two top 10s and one top 20 finish in four career starts at the Lone Star State. His best finish this season was a T8 at last month’s Valero Texas Open.

Sahith Theegala +15000 (Draft Kings)

As is often the case with talented young players, Sahith Theegala’s results this season have been stunning. That means when he’s fine, Theegala’s ceiling is pretty high. The 24-year-old has two top 10 finishes in 2022, including a T3 at the Waste Management Open, played at a different TPC course.
