2 teens critically injured in South Lawndale shooting – NBC Chicago

According to police, two teenage boys were critically injured in a shooting Saturday afternoon in the South Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago.

At about 1:21 p.m. in the 2300 block of South Sawyer, a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy were conducting drug deals in a vehicle when they were shot, authorities said. Two unidentified offenders manufactured handguns and opened fire on the victims, police said.

The 16-year-old boy was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition. Authorities said the 17-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the neck and transported himself to St. Anthony.

He was later transported to Mount Sinai and is said to be in critical condition.

No one was in custody as detectives continued to investigate Saturday night.
