A 12-year-old Texas girl who shot her father and then herself after her friend pulled out of a murder deal has died, police said.
The girl, who could not be identified because of her age, died Sept. 22, two days after the shooting, from a self-inflicted “gunshot wound to the head,” the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled.
The girl and her friend, also 12, had planned for weeks to murder their families and pets, the Parker County Sheriff’s Office said.
The girl plotted to kill her father, then left Weatherford, about 30 miles west of Fort Worth, and drove 230 miles to pick up her friend in Lufka. Together, the duo made plans to flee to Georgia.
But the girlfriend never carried out her part of the terrible deal.
Police arrived and found the wounded girl lying on the street with a pistol under her body. Her 28-year-old father was at her home suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The father was “recently” discharged from hospital and is said to be recovering, police said.
Police charged the Lufkin girl with conspiracy to murder and took her into custody last week.
