12-year-old boy fatally shot in parked minivan in Brooklyn

A 12-year-old boy was fatally shot in the head with two other people in a parked minivan in Brooklyn on Thursday night, police sources said.

One of the other occupants, a 20-year-old woman, was also shot dead when gunfire erupted on East 56 Street and Linden Boulevard in East Flatbush just after 7:45 p.m., sources said. An 8-year-old girl was also in the van and was not injured.

The boy was hit in the chest and head and taken to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, sources said.

“I saw the victim in the car, he didn’t move,” a witness, who identified herself only as Kinmiko, told The Post.

The unidentified woman was hit in the right cheek and upper left leg. She was taken to Kings County Hospital and is expected to survive, sources said.

It was not immediately clear if the shooters were aiming at the victims.

Two cars, including a black Infiniti sedan, fled the scene after the shooting. According to a source, investigators are looking into the possibility that the occupants of both vehicles fired at each other.

The suspects nearly caused a car accident while escaping, a witness said.

“I heard eight gunshots and I would say within 20 seconds of the shots I saw a car on the corner of East New York Avenue … and they nearly got into a crash with oncoming traffic,” a witness at the scene told The Post.

The witness said the fugitives appeared to be young.

At least 11 shots were fired, sources said, and ballistics evidence was secured at the scene.

Rhonda White, 59, who lives two blocks from where the shooting took place, said she “had a bad feeling something real had happened” after hearing gunshots.

“Now I hear that a child has been killed. I’ve lived in Brooklyn all my life and I thought we were past this. But it’s déjà vu. There is constant fear. Evil has returned to town,” White said.

A 45-year-old woman, who would only give her name as Renee, said she was devastated by the boy’s death.

“Every time you hear gunshots in this area, you hope and pray it won’t be that. Well, this time it was the one. I mourn this poor child. This hurts the most when it’s just a baby who hasn’t harmed anyone. How much more bloodshed before it stops?” 12-year-old boy fatally shot in parked minivan in Brooklyn
